The People of Lugansk Ukraine
The greatest asset of the people of Lugansk is their DUSHA, or soul. No other ethnic group possesses such a brilliant aura of inner goodness. You could say they are the Chosen Ones - forever destined to bring light to the corrupt, immoral, consumerist masses.
Russians
Despite Lugansk physically being within Ukraine’s borders, the population is 60% Russian. When counting Russian-Ukrainian hybrids as Russian, then the number is closer to 80%. Children of mixed families grow up speaking Russian almost exclusively. Those remaining are Ukrainians, Byelorussians, Gypsies, Jews, and an ever-increasing number of African, Arab and Indian students. Lugansk is proud of its multi-ethnic, multi-racial, multi-national, multi-religious, multi-lingual and multi-cultural character. Even the gas stations offer several grades of fuel, so in theory, you could call the city multi-octane as well. No other city in the world can be assigned so many multi designations.
Ukrainians
Political borders are complicated and misleading. Lugansk is officially Ukrainian terrority, though few pure blooded Ukrainians live here. Even fewer speak the language. Those who decide to stay, or without the means to leave, are being absorbed into the culture of Imperial Mother Russia. Others, refusing to be subservient to Tsar Putin, flee west to the country’s heartland. Both groups are marrying in an interracial frenzy, whose children tend to adopt the culture of the stronger country, that being Russia.
The Future
Demographically, civil war is brewing. A majority of ethnic Russians will never be ruled by a minority of Ukrainians from Kiev and Lviv, as is the case today. There will never be a Bantustan in Eastern Ukraine, not as long as Tsar Vladimir Putin sits on the world’s largest oil and mineral reserves. He will use money and military muscle to empower his people. Hopefully both sides will agree to split peacefully, through a referendum, similar to how Osetia split from Georgia.
